Our values are like inner compasses — they help us make decisions, set boundaries, and find peace in how we live. But we often carry values we’ve never consciously chosen — passed down from culture, family, or survival.

Reflect:
*Take a moment and jot down 10 values that feel important to you.
Some examples: Honesty, freedom, security, creativity, loyalty, independence, generosity, faith, growth, simplicity.

Now narrow that list to your top 5.
What makes these stand out?
Where did they come from — and how do they show up in your life today?

Values & Beliefs

What Really Matters to You?

Before we can organize our life in a way that feels sustainable and truthful, we really need to understand the deeper forces that has been shaping how we move through the world —

our values and beliefs.

This section helps uncover what you currently stand on, what you’ve inherited from others or your environment, and what you may be ready to redefine and re-assemble.

Step 3:

How Values + Beliefs Shape Decisions

Every decision that we make is usually rooted in something deeper.

Take a moment to write:

  • A recent decision I made that I feel proud of — what values did it reflect?

  • A decision I regret or struggled with — what influenced it?

  • Going forward, what filter do I want to use when making hard choices?

You may notice patterns that reveal where your inner world and outer world are in sync — or in conflict.

This part of your identity work is like looking at what's beneath your life (or the house you've been building). You can see if it's sand, rocks, dirt, etc,.

The deeper you understand what’s underneath it all, the more intentionally you can remove, replace and purposely protect what matters most.

Step 1:

Identify Your Core Values

Beliefs are often shaped by life experiences, community, trauma, and the roles we’ve played in them. Some beliefs can empower us. Others often limit us.

Ask yourself:

  • What are the beliefs I hold about myself that I feel right now?

  • Where did these beliefs come from?

  • Do they reflect who I am today — or who I used to be?

  • Are there beliefs I’m ready to let go of?
