Creating Your Identity Map
Step 1:
Choose Your Method
There’s no one right way to map your identity. Pick the method that feels natural or exciting to you. Some ideas include:
Mind Map: Start with “My Identity” in the center of a page, then branch out with key values, beliefs, past experiences, strengths, and lessons.
Timeline: Plot major life events on a visual timeline. Add what you learned or how each shaped who you are.
Collage or Vision Board: Use photos, magazine clippings, or digital images that reflect your personality, values, and goals.
Written Summary: Prefer words? Write a paragraph or a page capturing what you’ve discovered about yourself through this process.
No artistic skill required. Just being intentional.
As you build your map, consider including:
Your Top 5 Values
A few Core Beliefs — helpful or limiting
Key life experiences that has shaped you
Any patterns or behaviors you’re ready to change
Dreams or goals that reflect who you're becoming
This is your story in symbols, words, or visuals. It’s for you — no one else.
Step 3:
Reflect On What You See
Once you’ve completed your map, pause. Take a deep breath and look at what you just created.
Ask yourself:
What surprised me through this experience?
What feels the strongest or most central from this journey?
Where do I still feel conflicted — and where do I feel clear?
You don’t need to fix anything right now. Just notice these realizations.
Your Identity Map isn’t meant to define you forever — it’s meant to reveal where you are now, in this moment of growth and awareness.
You can revisit your identity blueprint and revise it at anytime.
Step 2:
Integrate What You’ve Learned
Now that you’ve explored your values, beliefs, and your life experiences, it’s time to bring them into focus — as a connected story. This is about seeing yourself more as God does, fully honest than you have ever done before.
You’re going to create your Identity Map — a visual snapshot of who you are right now.
